Butaleja District Officials Remanded Over Approving Irregular Contracts

The Anti Corruption Unit at State House working with the Criminal Investigation Directorate, have arraigned two officials of Busolwe Town Council, Butaleja District before the Anti-Corruption Court on charges of Abuse of Office.

 In May 2022, the two officials; Hirya Julius (Town Clerk) and Namutiga Charles Guloba (Assistant Engineer), allegedly abused their authority by irregularly approving contracts to World Host Consultants Ltd, for the designing of the town council structural plan without following procurement procedures.

 This impunity resulted in loss of public funds in payments to the irregularly contracted World Host Consultants Ltd.

 

They have been remanded until 14/06/2024.

In a related case, the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO)of Ntoroko District Local Government  Anslem Kyaligonza has been charged with abuse of office in relation to recruiting and appointing civil servants without approval of both district and public service commission.
