The leader of the Opposition Rt Hon Joel Ssenyonyi has asked the Speaker of Parliament to expunge her statements against Lwemiyaga County Member of Parliament Hon Theodore Ssekikubo and also apologize to the house.
Last week Hon Ssekikubo asked the speaker to raise the matter of the wastage of public funds but the parliament is an institution and wanted the house to debate on how commissioners of parliament sat and awarded themselves about Shs1.7 billion which the speaker rejected and regarded as nonsense.
However, Joel Ssenyonyi noted that he found it wrong and demanded the speaker withdraw the statements and apologize to the house.
Before heading to LOP's demand, the speaker first clarified that there is a pending issue of fact on the matter that is still pending.
She later apologized to the LOP saying that he was a big person in the house.
The matter of the service ward has been in the media since the beginning of this year which has also brought turmoil in the leading Opposition party the National Unity Platform.
The party resolved to recall its commissioner and former Leader of Opposition Rt Hon Mathias Mpuuga over accepting a service award of shs500 million.
This raised a hot debate among Ugandans and some Legislators where some demanded the house to debate about the matter.
The speaker Among has insisted that the matter lacks substantial evidence and parliament can not debate allegations from social media.
