Prison Warder Dies by Drowning in Irrigation Dam

Uganda Prisons Service is mourning the death of its own officer who drowned in an irrigation dam. The deceased has been identified as WDR no. 20704 Rajab Obilil, a Uganda Prison's staffing Bilaula, Kayunga district.

According to statement issued by the prison's spokesman Frank Baine, on 11th October, 2023, at around 8:30pm, while on duty guarding the irrigation dam, Obili accidentally fell in it and drowned to death.

"All efforts to save his life were in vain. The public is urged to disregard the speculations surrounding his death over alleged information that the deceased was stealing fish from the pond," Baine cautioned.
