Double Loss! S.4 Students Commits Suicide After Impregnating S.1 Girl - Grandfather Had Sold Land To Compensate Girl's Family

Police in Kasese district are investigating circumstances under which a 16 year old S.4 candidate in Kasese committed suicide by hanging on Saturday morning.

According to priminary information, the boy was  in panic after impregnating an S.1 student at their school.

The deceased, identified as Maate Emmanuel, was a student at Karambi Secondary School and was preparing to sit for his final exams next week.

 Maate’s grandfather was left in double loss since he had sold his land worth two million shillings to pay a fine to the girl’s family before his grandson committed suicide. 

Samson Kule, the school deputy head teacher, said that Maate had been suspended from school for impregnating a senior student.

‘’We suspended him at the beginning of this term for impregnating a form one student, and he was waiting to sit for his final exams next week,’’ he explains.

Paddy Muhindo, the LC3 Chairperson for Karambi Sub County, regretted the tragic incident and stressed that it’s unfortunate to lose such a young life.

The body of the deceased was at Bwera Hospital for a postmortem waiting for burial in Mirami Village, Karambi Sub County.
