UBOS Releases December Price Indices
The Uganda Bureau of statistics (UBOS) has released the price indices for December.
The annual Headline Inflation as measured by the Consumer Price Index for December 2024 is recorded at 3.3% compared to 2.9% recorded in November 2024. The annual Core Inflation is recorded at 3.9% year ending December 2024 compared to 3.8% for November 2024.
Statistics indicate that Matooke, Tomato, Avocado and orange prices increased on a monthly count while irish potatoes, mangoes, round onions, cassava fresh prices registered a decrease in prices compared to November 2024. Petrol, Diesel and kerosene prices also decreased.

Passenger transport by road Inflation increased to 1.6% from 1.2% of November 2024.
Restaurants and Accommodation Services Inflation increased to 4.8% from the 3.8% of November 2024.
Price increases were registered for posho, rice and beef while decreases were recorded on Fresh leaf vegetables, Irish potatoes, carrots and fresh beans.
The annual Energy, Fuel and Utilities inflation slowed to 1.0% from the 2.2% that was registered in November 2024.
Charcoal prices decreased to 4.9% in December 2024 from the 13.9% registered in November 2024. Petrol and Liquefied gas (propane) prices also decreased.
