Busoga Growers Cooperative Union Boss Arraigned Before  Anti-Corruption Court Over Causing Financial Loss, Conspiracy To Defraud Govt Of  Over Shs4b.

The State House Anti Corruption Unit working together with Criminal Investigations Directorate and the Office of the Directorate of Public Prosecutions have arraigned Basoga Charles, the Chairperson Busoga Growers Cooperative Union before the Anti-Corruption Court on Charges of causing financial loss and conspiracy to defraud govt of over Shs4billion.

Court was told that, the accused and others still at large between 2018 and 2023 conspired and defrauded over Shs4 billion meant for war loss compensation by Government of Uganda to Busoga Growers Cooperative Union.

He has been remanded until 1st August 2024.

The coperatives war loss compensation has landed many government officials including the recently arrested and committed to high court for trial, the Permanent Secretary (PS) Ministry of Trade, Industries and Cooperatives, Geraldine Ssali Busuulwa, Three Members of Parliament Michael Mawanda (Igara East), Ignatius Mudimi Wamakuyu (Elgon County) and Paul Akamba (Busiki County) alongside lawyerJulius Taitankoko Kirya and Leonard Kavundira , the Principal Cooperative Officerfrom Trade Minister
