Corruption Fever At Parliament As CID Summons More 10  MPs, Finance Ministry Officials

The Criminal Investigation Directorate (CID) has summoned More Legislators to appear at its headquarters Kibuli tomorrow thursday 13th June 2024 for interrogations on corruption scandals.

Others official having sleepless nights are some ministry of finance officials that are allegedly connived with MPs to steal public Funds.

This follows the three MPs Cissy Namujju, Yusuf Mutembuli and Paul Akamba were remanded to Luzira prison until Friday 14th June 2924 by Chief Magistrate Joan Aciro after pleading not guilty.

The accused were Charged with corruption that they solicited a bribe from the chairperson of Uganda Human Rights Commission  Mariam Wangadya of 20% ofits budget  despite efforts to secure bails all in vain.

The legal team for the accused is led by Lawyer Caleb Mwesigwa and Hon Asuma Basalirwa who said that their clients were kept incommunicado which he said delayed them to reach court for the proceedings.

Martin Ojala mapenduzi noted that some legislators may shun Budget reading  function tomorrow Thursday, 13th June 2024 at Kololo ceremonial grounds in fear of summons on Corruption allegations.

The Nrm  Secretary General Richard Twodong supported the arrest of the three NRM Legislators saying that the party is committed to fight corruption.

He has however revealed that NRM is scrutining it's legislators to fill Parliamentary Committed Chairperson seats just days after three party MPs were arrested.

"In an unprecedented move, the ruling party has decided to thoroughly vet candidates for chairperson positions on Parliamentary committees. After a three day review ,those who pass the screening will be announced on Friday this week". Said Twodong.
