Dr Kizza Besigye , Obeid Lutale Remanded Back To Luzira Until 13th January 2025

The General Court Martial sitting at Makindye has adjourned the matter of Dr Kiiza Besivye and his colleague Hajji Obeid Litale until Monday 13th January 2025 for further mention. 

This followed one of the lead counsels Lord Mayor Erias Lukwgo telling this court that the defence legal team have instructions from their clients not to proceed with the matter until the fate of one the lawyers Eron Kiiza is resolved.

Lukwago had asked court to resolve Kiiza's matter expeditiously since he is key in Besigye- Lutale case. I'm

The Chairman of the Court martial Brig.Gen.Freeman Mugabe says issues involving arrest of Erob kiiza will be discussed after the proceedings of court.

Eron Kiiza was arrested  following a heated altercation with military police officers.

Counsel Eron Kiiza joined his clients Dr. Col. Kizza Besigye and co-accused Obeid Lutale in the Court Martial dock following an arrest directive by the advocate judge.

On 10th December last year to have Dr. Kiiza Besigye and his co-accused Hajj Obed Kamuregeya to return on 7th January 2025,to  the military court martial sitting at Makindye.

The Uganda Law Council issued a temporary practicing license to their lead counsel and Kenyan politician Martha Wangari Karua who  and led the legal team to present Besigye and his colleague Lutale.

Karua had re-applied for for the license on 23rd December 2024 following a rejection of the previous one on several grounds.

By press time court was about to deliberate on Lawyer Eron Kiiza's fate after a lunch break.
