Five Suspects Arrested over Stealing A Motor Vehicle, Sold It To DRC
Police in Kajjansi have arrested five (05) suspects on allegations of stealing a motor vehicle.
The five suspects who are currently undergoing interrogation by detectives from Kampala Metropolitan South Region are;
Matovu Kenny 30 years, Transport Manager , a resident of Aliwala village Aluu county Congo country.
Gumisiriza lsmail 35 years, self employed, a resident of Okawanda Namere in Wakiso district.
Musimenta Ruth alias jovan 22 years, self employed a resident of kireka bliz in Wakiso district.
Matovu Frank 31years a driver, a resident of Katooke B zone Nansana, Wakiso district.
Mwebeza Ivan 40 years, a driver, a resident of Katooke A zone Nansana Municipality, Wakiso district.
On the 20 May 24 at around 0900pm at Seguku Makindye Sabagabo Municipality, Wakiso district, one Segujja Patrick who deals in car hire through his friend one Hazzan Luyima got a client who wanted a motorvehicle for hire, he didn't have the type of vehicle the client wanted, he asked a colleague in the the same business, one Saul Kiwuwa if he would accept his vehicle Reg.No.UBM 309G Toyota Alphard white in colour valued at Shs40,000,000 to be hired out, which Saul accepted the vehicle was hired out to Musimenta Ruth alias Jovan and others through Hassan Luyima to proceed to Masindi for a function.
They instead took the vehicle and sold it to Democratic Republic of Congo. Police was notified and swung into action,Statements were recorded from relevant witnesses and
Documents were retrieved from the complainant for proof of ownership.
The apprehended suspects were detained at Nateete Police station.
SSP Patrick Onyango The Kampala metropolitan police spokesperson noted that the case file was submitted to Resident State Attorney Kajjansi for perusal and legal advice.
''We want to appeal to the business community who deal in car hire to have a tracking system in their vehicles so that they can know the location and whereabout of their motor vehicles. Those who can afford the tracking system where the engine is switched off the moment a vehicle takes a different route from the agreed destination to install it'' He said.
