FDC Fronts Local Artiste Kalifah Aganaga For Kawempe North By-election Race

Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) has backed musician Mukiibi Sadat stage name Kalifah Aganaga to contest for Kawempe North constituency that fell vacant after the demise of Hon Muhammad Sseggirinya on January 9,2025.
Kalifah has officially joined the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) and welcomed by the party president Patrick Oboi Amuriat unveiled him as the party’s candidate for the Kawempe North parliamentary seat.
This marks a significant shift in Aganaga’s political affiliations, as he has previously been associated with both the National Unity Platform (NUP) and the National Resistance Movement (NRM).
In 2020, after being denied a NUP ticket, he composed songs praising NRM candidates.
He now joins NRM flag bearer Faridah Nambi who is waiting to be nominated by the Electoral commission and Hajjat Hanifah Kaladi who decided to go independent after a defeat in the NRM Primaries which she says were marred by vote bribery.
The NUP ticket is competitive after registering 10 people all seeking the same party flag. These include: Magala Umar, Mulumba Mathias, Nsereko Moses, Rubagumya Charles, Erias Luyimbaazi Nalukoola, Fredrick Kakiika, Salim Sserunkuuma, Ssenkungu Kenneth, Luwemba Muhammad Luswa, and Kulya Saul Zziwa.
Kawempe North by-election, scheduled for March 13, 2025 as earlier announced by the Electoral Commission Chairman, Justice Simon Mugenyi Byabakama.
