Former District Boss To Spend 23 Months In Jail, Ordered To Vomit Shs80M
The Grade One Magistrates' Court in Matuga has convicted and sentenced the Former Amudat district LC5 Chairperson, Francis Kiyonga Adamson, to 23 months and 14 days in jail and a fine of UGX 80M to be paid to Amudat district within six months of completing his sentence.
Kiyonga was charged in 2021 with stealing and selling spare parts of a GovUganda vehicle, a double cabin pick-up truck registration number UG 0654, belonging to the Amudat District under the Youth Livelihood Programme.
In a related development, State house Anti Graft Unit working with Criminal Investigation Directorate arraigned Asiimwe Annah before the Chief Magistrates Court Mbarara,on charges of Obtaining Money by False Pretence, Forgery and Uttering False doccuments.
The accused, while pretending to be the biological daughter of the Late Bishop Paul Bakyenga, fraudulently obtained millions of shillings from a number of victims in the guise of transfering the Late Bishop's properties into their names.
The suspect forged share certificates from MTN, World Bank, and letters purported to be from the Late and the catholic church showing that the Bishop had shares in World bank, MTN, Ford motors and several petrol stations which was not true. She has been remanded until 9/07/2024.
