Police Officer Arrested Over Touring 10 Year Old  House Helper

 Police in Kyenjojo district have arrested it's officer No 69460 Police Constable Amita Clovin aged 26years attached to kyenjojo police barracks and aggrevated torture and child labour counts. Amita is also arrested with Richard Tenywa 30 years working with Danish Refugee Council in Raino Arua district.

It's alleged that the due tortured a minor Joan Nabbanja aged 10years old who has been working for them as a house helper.

 Preliminary investigations indicate that Nabbanja now a (survivor) was picked from Arua District in September 2023 from her mother only identified as AYIKORU and brought Tenywa to kyenjojo police Barracks to nurse his wife PC AMITA CLOVIN who had just delivered.

On the the 27th/5/2024 AIP thembo James SOCO went to the tap to fetch water and found the survivor also fetching water while crying, he asked her what had happened , she lied that she fell down but as she bent to pick her jerrican of water, the blouse pulled up exposing her back and that thembo saw multiple fresh and healed torture marks on the whole body, upon serious interaction with the survivor, she revealed to him that PC Amita has for long tortured Her but she has no one to run to because she threatens to kill her if she talks.

 

Aip thembo james called another police officer kapkwecech kefas to witness the same, immediately they informed OC CFPU Aip okidi and OC station kyenjojo ASP mwima Tom who responded as soon as they received information and found the survivor in a sorrowful state. 

The victim was evacuated and rushed to midus touch hospital where the treatment and x.ray was done and discovered that she sustained multiple fracture of the ribs. 

Police managed to arrest that suspects  and scene and photo graphs lifted by SOCO AIP thembo James. 

OC CFPD AIP OKIDI AGNES collaborated with (NGO) EKA foundation and will place the child in school after treatment. 

"Social inquiry report was made by kyenjojo senior probation and social well fare officer Mrs joselyn mbabazi olimi".Said Okidi.

 DPC KYENJOJO SSP MUGIZI FELIX ordered demolition of temporary bambu fence within the barracks and also sensitized police officers to desist from employing children to work as maids yet they are supposed to be in school.

 The survivor calls (Tenywa Richard) an uncle PC Amita clovin fenced her home within the police Barracks and the survivor fetches water late in the night and at dawn that's why it took time for the issue to be identified.

The suspects will be produced before courts of law as charged and answer for their actions.  police officers.

"we are the main stake holders in promotion and protection of children's right but it has been observed that in most Barracks some of us are using children as house helpers which is tinting the image of police institution. Together let's fight child labour".Said OC Okidi
