I Never Ordered For Arrest Of Protesting Woman At Parliament- Speaker Among
The Speaker of Parliament Rt Hon Anitah Among has denied the allegations that she ordered for the arrest of a woman that was protesting outside parliament with placards against speaker's increasing corruption implications.
The woman protested on July 2 2024 against what she called stinking corruption by the speaker Anita Among.

The arrest of the woman and the former Rubaga deputy RCC Herbert Anderson Burora prompted some Legislators to openly come out and condemn the uncalled for arrests to those exercising their constitutional rights to protest any wrongdoing at the parliament. Lwemiyaga County representative Theodore Ssekikubo accused the speaker Among of being behind the arrest of Burora and the woman over criticizing her.

However,  speaker has denied all the allegations against her.

''I did not order her arrest. There are so many things said about me that my staff have shared with me, which are totally unfounded. I have consistently said feedback from citizens who by right should hold leaders to account is what will ultimately strengthen our democracy. On that note, I have instructed my staff to organise a conversation here soon so we can all have an open conversation to listen to citizens and get feedback on what needs to be done better''.She posted on her X (former twitter) handle.

This comes at a time when Legislators led by Hon ssekikubo are collecting signatures from fellow law makers to support the censure motion of the four Parliamentary Commissioners over the Shs400M-500M service award.

Ssekikubo says, this will restore the dignity and integrity of Parliament while strengthening public trust and confidence in the institution.
