Kilak South MP Gilbert Olanya Arrested and Released on Bond for Alleged Incitement of Violence..

The Member of Parliament for Kilak South Gilbert Olanya, has been granted police bail after being arrested earlier today for allegedly inciting violence.

 According to his press secretary, Rachkara Robinson, Olanya was taken into custody following a dispute with security officers regarding a truck loaded with charcoal that was being unloaded in an area where both the president and the state minister of environment had banned the burning of charcoal. Rachkara stated that Olanya has signed his police bond at Bardege-Layibi police station.

Rachkara explained that the community had intercepted the truck full of charcoal, and Olanya, as a leader, had gone to the scene and informed the police officers that the vehicle would not be burned. Instead, the community would unload the charcoal.

This is not the first time the Kilak South MP has been arrested; in June 2020, he was detained with other MPs for protesting against the continuous movement of trucks to and from Elegu border post in Amuru. In January 2021, he was arrested for allegedly inciting locals over the disputed Apaa land.
