Man Arrested over Conning Ugandan Youths shs 32M Promising Jobs in Japan
Katwe Police Station are holding a man over allegations of conning two you boys of their money worth shs 32M promising to take them to Japan. The arrested man who is on charges of trafficking in human has been identified as Mugumya Franko. He was arrested inside a hotel in Nansana where he had been hiding for close to a week.
The conned young men have been identified as Atuhwera Alex and Nuwamanya Umaru both in their early 20s. They hail from Bushenyi District and were working in coca-cola factory in Mbarara.
According to our sources at Katwe Police Station, the arrested man doesn't have any known recruiting agency but rather deals in luring young boys and girls promising them jobs abroad but end up eating their money. "After conning these young boys, the suspect went into hiding from his home and we started tracking him until we arrested him from a hotel in Nansana,"says one of the detectives at Katwe police station.
Our spies revealed that the arrested man took money from these young boys last year and he fled his home and went into hiding. Our sources also said that by the time of his arrest, the hotel was also demanding him shs 400,000. He is being charged of trafficking in human vide SD Ref 53/28/4/2023 of Katwe police station pending to be charged in Court after investigations are complete.
