Mbarara High Court Dismisses Fire Case Filed By Safaris Against UWA.
The high court in Mbarara has desmissed the case against Uganda Revenue Authority (UWA) lodged by East African Safaris Limited regarding the fire incident at Kyambura lodge.
The Court presided over by Lady Justice Joyce Kavuma received the evidence and ruled that, the fire that engulfed Kyambura lodge in 2017 did not originate from Queen Elizabeth National park as was alleged by Safaris Ltd.
court pronounced that the plaintiff failed to aduce sufficient evidence demonstrating that the fire originated from the National Park or that UWA's personnels were culpable for it's ignition.
The fire incident at Kyabuta occured on January 18th 2017 and the plaintiff subsequently filed a lawsuit against UWA where legal preceedings concluded 30th april 2024 after court's decision on the matter.
The court decision received a warm welcome by the Uganda Wild Life Authority Executive Director Sam Mwandha who expressed this as a great achievement by the entire Authority.
He said, the court ruling is a testimon that UWA is dedicated to it's mandate and responsibilities.
"We stand firm on our mission to preserve Uganda's rich boldiversity and protect our natural heritage for the future generation..This verdict validates our diligent efforts to fulfill our mandate with integrity and professionalism".said Mwandha.
