MP Zaake Demands Reinstatement of Entitlements as Commissioner of Parliament
Francis Zaake, the Member of Parliament representing Mityana Municipality, has formally requested the parliamentary leadership to fully reinstate him as Parliament Commissioner.
This request comes after the Constitutional Court in Kampala overturned Parliament's decision to remove Zaake from his position. The court ruled that Parliament had violated procedural requirements and acted unlawfully.
In a letter dated October 2, Zaake, represented by his lawyers, has demanded settlement of all outstanding salary arrears dating back to his removal in March of the previous year. He is also seeking reinstatement as a Commissioner with all associated privileges, including an official vehicle, a fuel card, and allowances.
Zaake's removal in March last year was due to allegations of misconduct, but the Constitutional Court's recent ruling supported his case against Parliament's actions.
