This Sunday 12th March 2023, members of the Presidential Affairs committee will travel to Karamoja to gather more evidence about the misuse of aid supplies intended for the region's most needy citizens.

The areas the team plans to visit include Nakapiripirit, Moroto, Kotido, and Napak, where the majority of the allegations of mismanagement were made.

The five-day visit comes after last week's session, during which the committee spoke with several witnesses about the case.

The committee's chairperson and Adjumani Woman MP, Ms. Jesca Ababiku claimed that they had completed almost all of their investigations and would now travel to the scene to confirm the facts provided.

“We shall travel on Sunday before starting official visits on Monday for a period of five days,” she said, adding, “We are going to all the districts in Karamoja.”

As part of their mandate, the MPs are required to investigate claims of improper handling of iron sheets, compare the anticipated number of goats in Karamoja to the actual cost implications, and assess whether food supplies, notably maize, were misappropriated to fund other institutions.

Minister for Karamoja Affairs Mary Goretti Kitutu, her junior Agnes Nandutu, and Minister of Finance Matia Kasaija all testified before the committee.
