Border District RDCs Should Have Military Background- CDF Gen. Wilson Mbadi

At the beginning of February 2024, President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni who also doubles as the Commander In Chief (CIC) of armed forces promoted over 300 officers to higher ranks of whom 23 were senior Army officers.

Today, the 23 promoted senior officers have been decorated at a colorful function presided over by the UPDF the Chief of Defense Forces Gen Wilson Mbasu Mbadi in Kampala.

GEn Mbadi notes that Higher ranks mean increased responsibility but conditions for Military promotion are different. These military ranks denote seniority, Authority, and responsibility and have a bearing on the budget as well and they should ideally represent increased service values of royalty, integrity, honor, selfishness, and moral authority.

He urged the newly decorated senior officers to always remember the force's pro-people code of conduct and avoid injurious to the UPDF its cohesion and effectiveness.

''We have not promoted you to abuse those offices you will be taking over or create personal small kingdoms and become small kings without kingdoms'', Gen. Mbadi warned. The military family is always asked to make sacrifices well and beyond and often the higher the rank, the more the sacrifices CDF Mbadi noted, however, he congratulated the decorated senior officers upon promotion to higher ranks.

GEN Mbadi said that the border districts should have RDCs with military backgrounds since they deal with smugglers and ADF rebels, among other challengers.

He added that,the joint training with the UPDF has been key in bonding shared Ideology and philosophy whics he saide has helped in effective conduct of Joint operations.

Brigadier Charles Oluka who is the director Internal Security Organization (ISO) has commended the UPDF for always rendering training services to ISO personnel
