President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has appealed to Ugandans to strive and fight poverty out of their homes to live a better life.
''Socio-economic transformation can be accomplished by focusing on two key areas: mass education and active participation in the money economy''. The President noted.
While officiating the International Womens day celebrations in Katakwi district, President Museveni revealed that when the family has accumulated wealth,it can even pay bride price for their daughters.
''All my girls have been married and am a big grandfather but am the one who pay brid price for them when they get married'' The President revealed.
President museveni said that women emanicipation program must be organic rather than just legislations advising the women's movement to advocate for free education, particularly in government schools, to remove obstacles faced by girls.
''We need to move away from solely working for the stomach and implement the NRM’s program of prioritizing food and income security. By involving families in commercial agriculture with ekibaro , artisanship, industries, services, and ICT, we can empower women and drive overall societal progress'' The President advised.
