NUP Determined To Recall Mpuuga From The Parliamentary Commissioner Seat.
It is not clear whether the former Leader of the opposition in Parliament Rt. Hon.Mathias Mpuuga will heed the party's call for him to respond in writing to the party National Executive Committee resolution to recall him from his current position as a commissioner of parliament.
The National Executive Committee of the National Unity Platform sat and considered the serious accusations of Corruption and Abuse of Office against Hon. Mathias Mpuuga
NEC resolved to recall him from the Parliamentary Commission if he did not provide a satisfactory explanation in writing within seven (7) days. the letter signed by the acting party president Dr. Lina Driga reads in part.
Dr. Lina confirmed that Mpuuga's office received this communication on Tuesday 5th March 2024 and expects him to respond in the specified period.
This process became necessary after he was strongly advised to step down in public interest and he declined to do so. She added.
The party has publicly ordered Hon. Mpuuga to step down from his position and apologize to Ugandans over accepting a service award of Shs. 500 million which they termed as corruption and abuse of office.
However, up to now Hon. Mpuuga has denied any wrongdoing and declined to heed the party's call to have him step down.
