National Unity Platform head of mobilization in Kaabong District Lochoto Ambrose Machete who was allegedly murdered by security operatives on Saturday night has been laid to rest in Karamoja Sub- mobilisation in Kaabong District.
The Party was represented by its secretary general David Lewis Rubongoya who represented the party president Hon. Robert Kyagulanyi and condemned the gruesome killing of their members including Machete.
Rubongoya said ,Machete's body was literally littered with bullets everywhere, from the head to the feet.
''Machete's family as well as the onlookers narrated that he was pursued and once captured, forced to remove his shirt. He was then ordered to sit down and then shot at close range''.Rubongoya said.
This followed repeated threats to stop promoting the opposition in Karamoja or face consequences in addition to being a mobiliser, Machete was also a musician.
Family members attempted to report a case and record a statement at police but were chased away. While the body was taken to Kaabong General Hospital, they refused to do a postmortem.
The mortuary attendant said no doctor was willing to do it. So we have buried him without any medical report. Rubongoya noted
According to the family, the RDC and DISO approached the family and told them to be calm because their son and brother was killed by mistake. They asked what will happen to the 6 children left behind by this brother. He added
He questioned on what will happen to Machete's wife! encouraging our people to remain steadfast and firm even in the face of this great tragedy.
