NUP Leadership Has No Hope To Reconcile With Mpuuga- Joel Ssenyonyi

National Unity Platform (NUP) spokesperson who also doubles as Leader of Opposition in Parliament Hon Joel Ssenyonyi has refuted claim from various social media platforms that the party is ready for mediations with the suspended party Vice President and party dropped Parliamentary Commissioner Rt. Hon. Mathias Mpuuga.

Following Buga da premier plea to party leaders to stop backbiting at each other , many Ugandans especially political analysts had valid hope that the current turmoil in NUP will end and have reconciliation among the top leadership.

However, Ssenyonyi says that the Party has already dropped mr Mpuuga from the position of Deputy President in charge of central region and not intending to reverse their decision  and sit with him for reconciliation.

"I have not conducted any such interview, so I wonder where this is coming from". Ssenyonyi said.

To set the record straight, there is no such thing as "differences" but there is such a thing as 500m which was gotten irregularly by our colleague. He added.

"We have asked him to withdraw from the commission, but if he chooses to remain there he will be there on his own, not with our mandate and blessing as a party"Ssenyonyi further stated.

Hon Mpuuga was seen close to The speaker of parliament and her deputy earlier this week raising people's suspicion that he is more leaning to NRM party than his Official NUP party.

However Mpuuga said that he went to Mengo with his electorate from Nyendo Mukungwe to show solidarity and support the Kabaka's birthday run campaign against HIV/AIDS. The run is scheduled this sunday 7th April 2024.
