Nup President Fires Mpuuga from Vice President in charge of Central Region.

The President of the National Unity Platform has suspended Hon. Mathias Mpuuga from the position of Deputy President in charge of Central Region for engaging in actions of corruption and abuse of office actions he has failed to give any satisfactory explanation for.

The suspension letter signed by the party president Robert Kyagulanyi, Mpuuga's suspension takes immediate effect.

On Tuesday 26th March 2024, Hon Mpuuga told the nation that he had no intention of resigning his position as commissioner of parliament nor quitting the party.

''Questions and speculations have been on as to whether, where and when I am going. I wish to state that I am a founder member of NUP where I serve as a Deputy President. I am not leaving the party I founded and I’m not doing anything that destroys a young party I participated in establishing with conscience and conviction''.Mpuuga revealed.

The letter indicated that Hon. Mpuuga failed to provide a satisfactory explanation for engaging in the action that goes against the Vision, Mission, and Objectives of the Party.

The party accuses Hon. Mpuuga of conniving with NRM parliamentary Commissioners and allocating themselves sh1.7bn under the pretext of a ''service award'' that contravenes article 5.3 (b) and (f) of the party constitution.

The party president has now referred the matter to the national executive committee for further processing.
