Our Big Support Scares Government, Decides To Halt Our Consultative Activities - NUP Responds To Police
The National Unity platform has accused government over blocking their consultative activities due to the fear of their overwhelming support from different parts of the country so far visited.
The National Unity Platform resumed its country-wide tour, commencing in the vibrant Mayuge District, Uganda. This event underscores NUP’s commitment to the people of Mayuge and its vision for a more prosperous and equitable Uganda.

They commenced with the official inauguration of the NUP Party Office in Mayuge town, symbolizing NUP’s dedication to grassroots engagement and local representation.

NUP President Robert Ssentamu Kyagulanyi, accompanied by Secretary-General David Lewis and Hon. John Baptist Nambeshe, the Opposition Chief Whip in the Parliament of Uganda and NUP Vice President Eastern Region, led this momentous occasion.

Also last month May 2024 NUP resumed its countrywide tour to Solicit more support for the party ahead of 2026 general elections.

According to the Party secretary general David Lubongoya wrote on his X social media that government is just scared of there support as to why Police decided to halt their countrywide consultative activities.

"Here is the reason  why the regime is always looking for every excuse to block our meetings. Having fallen out of favor with the population, they must use billions to ferry people from all corners of the country, advertise on all media, give food and drinks, hire artistes, etc and still not raise these numbers. The organic support they see on our events scares the hell out of them".He wrote.

" Whereas Police Leadership met with the National Unity Platform Leadership at Police Headquarterson the 27.05.2024, and agreed on how to conduct their consultative meetings, NUP have disregarded the agreed position and continue to act with impunity as demonstrated in today’s unfortunate incident at Maya". Yesterday Police said before halting NUP activities.
