Police Arrests Five Car Robbers,Recovers Two Vehicles.
Kasangati police is holding five people who have been behind the robberies of motor vehicles in Kampala and other surrounding areas and have also recovered two vehicles from the arrested people.
The arrested have been identified as Galiwango Ali the caretaker of level one palace gardens in Kitezi, Umar Kamoga a mechanic at kalerwe who works as a cahoot and always changes the colours of vehicles for reselling and remarketing, Majidu Kalule a casual worker and builder at level one palace gardens and Anold Nyabongo.
Luke Owoyesigire the deputy police spokesperson for Kampala metropolitan confirmed the arrest adding that police is also looking for a one Ssalongo Steve who buys stolen cars and hides them at the same gardens.
"We arrested these car Robbers after getting information from Mwotasubi Namulawa Sophia a resident of Magigye Busukuma division in Wakiso district that her motor vehicle a Toyota Sienta registration number UBA 955Q had been stolen from her compound, “says Owoyesigire.
Owoyesigire added that crime Intelligence officers found the stolen car of Sophia at level one palace gardens parked but had been with vandalized doors.
Owoyesigire adds that upon further interrogations the suspects revealed that they had also stolen another vehicle registration number UAH 346J Toyota corona and black in color which is the suspects said was stolen from one Kiremye Ssenyonjo Swaib in Nangabo parish, Kasangati Town council Wakiso district.
Owoyesigire says that more investigations are being carried out to get the entire racket and Ganga of these car Robbers and ensure they are disabled.
He also told us that police is looking for the Mr Swaib Ssenyonjo the owner of motor vehicle registration number UAH 346J which is currently parked at Kitezi police.
