Police Launches Report on Barriers to Deployment of Women Officers to UN Peace Operations.

Uganda Police Force has launched a report on the barriers to deployment of women police officers in UN peacekeeping operations.

The report was conducted by Makerere University Rotary Peace Center as a result of the generous support from the Elsie Fund a UN Trust fund whose aim is to support inclusive peacekeeping and the meaningful participation of uniformed women in UN peacekeeping operations.

The Information was obtained from 28 Police
regions in the country through a survey of 434 respondents and 31 Key Informants between
March 2022 and February 2023. According to Police, the assessment report will inform gender interventions within the Police Force.

Police remains committed to enhancing gender equality within the force. Implementing these recommendations will contribute towards achieving gender parity especially in deployment of officers to UN Peacekeeping missions. We look forward to more collaborations and make increasing numbers of female police officers’ meaningful participation in UN Peace Operations a reality.
