Police Recovers 1 Month Old Missing Baby

Detectives in Kassanda have successfully located a one-month-old female baby who went missing from her mother, Kyarimpa Peace, on 16.10.2023, around 5pm at Kiganda Health Centre IV during an immunization visit.

An immediate report was filed on the same day, initiating search efforts. The suspect, Nankabirwa Esseza, aged 19 years and a resident of Kalamba Town Council, Kassanda district, was apprehended on 18.10.2023 at Waybridge, Mubende Municipality, Mubende District, based on intelligence-led information.

Rachel Kawala the PRO Wamala, Region in a statement said, "We are pleased to announce that the child has already been reunited with her mother, following a thorough medical examination. We express our sincere appreciation to all the teams involved in the recovery of this child."

Preliminary findings suggest that Nankabirwa's motive was linked to a deception involving her boyfriend and a false pregnancy claim. The suspect is currently held at Kassanda CPS as inquiries continue.
