President Museveni Writes To Muslim Community On PDM Fund

President Yoweri Museveni has advised the Muslim community to embrace thr Parish Development Model (PDM) as a principal of improving the household income since and government is not charging any interest what the president termed as Riba.

The president was responding to the request for financial support from Ms. Hafwa Nalumansi Ssettala the chairperson of Taqwa Islamic Sacco in Mukono district which the president has accepted and pledged to them Shs.200 million.

President Museveni noted that his government decided to extend Shs. 100 million per parish in the whole country as a grant not a loan by the government to the sacco.

Once the money is ours in the Sacco, we face the problem of inflation and when the Sacco puts a percentage of like 5% on Shs.1 million after 24 months on the money it gives to one of the Sacco members, it is to maintain the ability of capital being able to give the same amount to another member the following year. The president rectified this.

The Parish Development Model is the Model positions the PARISH as the epicenter of multi-sectoral community development, planning, implementation, supervision and accountability. Parish as the lowest reference unit for planning, budgeting and delivery of interventions to drive socio-economic transformation.
