Reckless Driver loses control, Rams into four vehicles, 4 Motorcycles kills one.

A fatal accident occurred at the busy Wandegeya Traffic lights in Kampala city on Thursday morning, resulting in the death of a bodaboda rider and leaving two others with severe injuries. The incident took place at approximately 9:00 am when the driver of motor vehicle UBJ 543M Isuzu Elf lost control of the vehicle and collided with motorists and cyclists waiting for the traffic lights to change.

The collision caused significant traffic jam as emergency responders rushed to aid the injured victims. The injured individuals were promptly transported to Mulago National Referral Hospital in critical condition to receive urgent medical attention.

Deputy spokesperson of the Kampala Metropolitan Police, Luke Owoyesigyire, released a statement identifying the deceased as Emmanuel Rweyale, a 28-year-old bodaboda rider residing in Lugala, Rubaga Division, Kampala. Owoyesigyire further revealed that the driver, identified as Farouk Kasuko, a 30-year-old resident of Mbale city, was the owner of the truck involved in the accident. The driver lost control of the vehicle, causing it to collide with four motor vehicles and four bodabodas.

The impact of the collision was so powerful that the bodaboda rider tragically lost his life at the scene, while the vehicles involved sustained extensive damage. Fortunately, no motorists suffered any injuries during the incident. Among the injured were two bodaboda riders, Moses Kagimu and Rasul Muluuta, who were promptly rushed to Mulago Hospital for immediate medical attention.

Law enforcement authorities swiftly responded to the accident, removing the deceased's body and making efforts to alleviate the traffic congestion caused by the incident. The driver of the Isuzu Elf truck was apprehended and remains in custody at Wandegeya Police Station while investigations into the matter are ongoing.

Owoyesigyire indicated that the charges against the driver may change if additional fatalities occur, as the individuals rushed to the hospital were in critical condition at the time of reporting. The police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the accident.
