Speaker Among To Visit Parliamentary SACCO Land.

The Speaker of Parliament Rt. Hon Anita Annet Among has scheduled to visit the Parliamentary Sacco's land amidst reports that part of land is in wetland, Spyreports has exclusively learnt.
Insiders say the Speaker may visit Kitukutwe area in Kira Municipality early next week.
Sources from Speaker's office say, she has informed the board member of Parliamentary SACCO to get ready and lead her to the said wetland.

According to the information obtained by this investigating web site, the speaker's visit follows several media reports that Parliamentary SACCO used member’s money and bought a wetland.
Insiders at Parliament further revealed to us that a section of Members of Parliament have also petitioned to her claiming that their SACCO duped them their millions of shilling and sold them plots of land that were situated in a total wetland.

"We paid millions of money while buying the plots of land and now we have been reliably informed that NEMA will not allow us to build our houses the area has been gazetted as wetland", says one of the MPs adding they need the intervention of the Speaker to get back our money.

Another MP says, Parliamentary Sacco knew it very well that part of the land they bought was in wetland but they went ahead and sold the plots to MPs. "We as MPs cannot accept to make losses, the Speaker must intervene and we get back our Money or the SACCO gives other plots of land that are not in wetland," she says.

The Speaker recently twitted "we continue to witness increased environmental degradation in various parts of the Country characterised by deforestation, land degradation and swamp reclamation among others".

She further says as leaders we owe it to our constituents to champion environmental conservation.

Sources from the Parliamentary Sacco say there is a lot of panic and fear among the top leadership of the SACCO. "They are now living under tension and fear ever since the media broke the stories. They know they can be arrested and prosecuted for causing financial loss to the Sacco," says one of the SACCO members.
