UGANDA TO HOST THE 2023 AFRICA NUCLEAR BUSINESS PLATFORM

The Africa Nuclear Business Platform 2023 (AFNBP 2023) will be hosted by Uganda through the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development in partnership with the Nuclear Business Platform in order to understand and discuss nuclear energy developments in Africa and explore areas of strategic collaborations to advance the nuclear industry in Uganda and other African nations.

Uganda through the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development in partnership with the Nuclear Business Platform will host the Africa Nuclear Business Platform 2023 (AFNBP 2023). The conference is aimed at understanding and discussing nuclear energy developments in Africa and explore areas of strategic collaborations to advance the nuclear industry in Uganda and other African nations.

The conference offers a great chance for Uganda in particular and the continent of Africa in general to identify appropriate solutions to problems in the nuclear industry.

This comes at a time when seven Sub-Saharan African countries, including Uganda, have committed to having nuclear energy as part of their energy mix between 2030 and 2037.

Uganda's minister of energy Ruth Nankabirwa, says the conference will take place as Uganda gets ready to amend the Atomic Energy Act of 2008, which will strengthen the legal framework for nuclear safety, security, safeguards for nuclear material, civil nuclear liability, and maintaining the nuclear institutional framework.

Almost 300 stakeholders from the global nuclear community are anticipated to attend the meeting, which is set to take place between March 14 and March 17, 2023.
