Top Doctor Petitions Land Minister As Police Fails to Arrest Mukono Land Grabber
Dr Elizabeth Emuku and her husband Juventile Emuku have jointly petitioned to the State Minister for lands Hon Dr Sam Mayanja to intervene in their land matter which is being grabbed by a land grabber only identified as Jamaawa Nantuume.
The duo claim that police has refused to arrest Jamaawa despite several complaints and statements recorded at police.
The land which is under conflict is located in Mpooma Hill in Mukono district.
The history of the whole matter States that on May 30th 2008, Jamaawa sold her land measuring 8.89 acres of land to two prominent doctors Juventile Emuku and his wife Dr Elizabeth Emuku who reside in Kyaliwajjala in Namugongo. It is in record that Jamaawa sold each acre at shs 6m and was paid cash.
The sales agreement was also witnessed by Moses Bakku.
The land is registered on plot 24 block 95 Kyaggwe which is in Mpooma Parish, Nama Sub County Mukono district.
After making all payments, Jamaawa was called to surrender her passport photos to make the transfer of land tittle.
Jamaawa later turned around and said she was not selling the land and also refused to refund the money.
The Doctors used the legal channel and dragged Jamaawa to Mukono high court. The case which was under Justice Flavia Senoga ruled in favor of the Doctors. Court also allowed the pair to proceed and make their tittle which was issued in March 2012.
In 2014, Jamaawa also never gave up on the matter, she applied to higher court under Justice Patricia Wasswa Basaza and she also lost the matter and court awarded costs to the doctors.
In 2021, Jamaawa further returned to court again challenging the previous rulings made by two judges.
She went before, Justice David Batema who also dismissed her claims saying they were fraudulent and legally unfounded.
The doctors went ahead and started developing their land. They put up farming and built up some live stock farming houses on their land.
Recently, they got shocked when their farm manager was attacked by Jamaawa and her Kanyamas and destroyed their property on their land. They also assaulted their workers on their farm.
The doctors told their farm manager to go and report the matter to police. The manager went to Mpooma police post but officers refused to open up the case saying they fear Jamaawa who has the back up of an Army General.
The manager was later referred to Mukono Police Station where his case was reported.
The doctors also went ahead and reported the matter to Anti Corruption Unit of State House for further investigations.
State House later ordered for the arrest of Jamaawa and his Kanyamas but police opted to arrest Kanyamas only leaving out the main fish.
Jamaawa with the backup of RDC stormed Mukono police and demanded the release of the detained suspects who were on charges of assault and malicious damage of properties.
When Kanyamas were released, they went back on the land and made more destructions . The doctors wrote a 20 page letter to IGP Martin Okoth Ochola to intervene in their land matter and the arrest of Jamaawa.
We have been informed that Dr Mayanja who is the land minister is scheduled to visit the land on 8th June. Mayanja has also written to Minister for Presidency Milly Babalanda to warn his RDC who is accused of backing Jamaawa.
Mayanja had also written to the head of Anti Corruption Brig. Henry Isoke to start investigating the same land matter.
