UIA Boss Accepts To Refund Shared Shs545M Service Award.

The Uganda Investment Authority(UIA) Executive Director Dr Robert Mukiza has accepted to refund the honoraria of Shs 545 million illegally given to UIA staff and some project management team.

This has been put in a letter signed by him asking for the contractor account details to refund the monies.

''This is to request you to provide me with the Bank Account details to enable me implement the Minister's directive''. The letter reads in part.

The chairperson Board of Directors Morrisom Rwakakamba on 12th June 224 after receipt of the minister's letter also wrote to UIA boss Dr Mukiza indicating the illegality of the Honoraria payments the staff of the Authority and a section of the project team.

The Investment and Privatisation State Minister Hon Evelyn Anite earlier this week on 12th June 2024 directed the Uganda Investment Authority to management to return Shs 545M they paid to themselves as 'honoraria payment' off the loan-funded Kampala Industrial Park Development (KLDP) project.

''I find the above despicable, Uncouth, barbaric and uncultured that people who have been tasked with the responsibility of delivering such a project within five years not only have they under performed but also they are are busy chest thumping and dishing to themselves huge sums of the project loan. All these tantamount to abuse and corruption at the expense of taxpayers of Uganda. This is not in line with the vision of H.E the President of the Republic of Uganda, Gen.

According to Minister Anite, the director general UIA Robert Mukiza received Shs82,620,000, his deputy Dr Paul Kyalimpa got Shs 58,140,000, The contracts and claims manager Patience Kabije and the Transactions and contractual risk management Bwambale Kyamakya John both pocketed 43,596952 each. Contracts and claims assistance and records management went away Shs 17,26,732 each with the two drivers unspared each enjoying july with Shs4,896,000.

This corruption in government must stop.
