UPDF Arrests ADF Militia Squad Leader
The Uganda People's Defence Forces (UPDF) have captured the leader of a militia squad responsible for the murder of two foreign tourists and their local guide in Queen Elizabeth National Park last month. The attack, carried out by the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) militia, claimed the lives of a British national, a South African, and their Ugandan guide.
The UPDF conducted a successful operation, eliminating six members of the ADF squad and capturing the unit commander, known as Njovu, who was found with belongings of the victims. The captured fighter is being treated and will face trial.
The ADF, affiliated with the Islamic State group, has been responsible for attacks in Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
