Youths Should Participate In All Democratic Processes- EC Boss Byabakama
The Electoral Commission has called for youths Participation in the electoral process noting that it is a democratic right for all Ugandans, in line with Article 1.4, which grants the right to choose leaders.
The Commission has em backed on youths engagement in the Electoral processes.
"With over 5.8 million youth eligible to vote, their constructive engagement in electoral processes is pivotal. It enhances electoral integrity and expands democratic inclusivity." - Said EC Chairperson, Justice Byabakama
"The energy, creativity, and innovation of Uganda's youth are invaluable assets. Harnessing these qualities will drive both democratic development and economic transformation across Africa." - added Byabakama.
He added the youths participation in all democratic processes is not only aright but also a responsibility.
"Let's embrace our constitutional duty to govern through regular, free, and fair elections." - Said EC Chairperson, Justice Byabakama.
He assured youths on how the Commission is ready to work with the youths of Uganda to vigorously campaign against electoral violence through sensitization, civic education,and religious institutions.
The Electoral Commission Chairperson Justice Byabakama Mugenyi Simon made the remarks at a keynote adress on safeguarding peace and security during elections at Makerere University in Kampala.
The IGAD Youth Forum For Peace Uganda Chapter head Sam Ogwal urged the youths to be committed to peaceful engagement,constructive dialogue and active participation in all democratic processes
"Beyond the ballot, our actions define our future. Together, we can build an Uganda that is great for us and for generations to come".- Ogwal Sam remarked.
" Young people constitute the largest voting bloc, yet they often aren't present at the pivotal moment in their lives - voting. We are committed to increasing youth involvement in the 2025/2026 general elections" added Ogwal.
