Assailants Kill Husband, His Wife, Leave their Bodies Lifeless Inside the House

Detectives from Kassanda are investigating a case of murder of a couple in the night of 05/10/2023 in Katuugo LC1, Kitumbi parish, Kitumbi sub-county, within Kassanda district. 

The victims have been identified as Sekunda Keren, aged 42, and Niyoyita Fed, 46 years old, both residents of the aforementioned location.
The bodies were discovered at around 7am on 06/10/2023, in Katuugo village. Local residents, while heading to their gardens, discovered Niyoyita lying on his back in his doorway. 

Upon closer inspection, they observed multiple fresh cuts on his head and found his door wide open. Upon looking inside his house, they discovered the lifeless body of his wife lying on her bed facing downwards.

The area chairperson was notified, and the matter was reported to the police. "Our officers responded to the scene of the crime, where they documented and examined the area. Relevant statements from witnesses have been recorded to assist with the ongoing investigation. The bodies of the deceased have been transported to Kassanda HCIV for postmortem examinations," said SP Racheal Kawala PRO Wamala Region.

"Preliminary findings suggest that the deceased couple had been married for over 25 years and had a history of long-standing domestic violence. It is suspected that following the gruesome murder of his wife (Sekunde), Niyoyita may have also fallen victim to a mob attack," she added.

It has also been established that Sekunda was struck on the head with a blunt object, possibly a log, which was found near her body.

SP Kawala strongly urged the public to report cases of domestic violence to the relevant authorities, such as the police and local community leaders (LCs), for prompt intervention. 

She further condemned acts of mob justice, and said police is actively working to apprehend and bring to justice those involved in mob-related murders.
