Bus Accident Claims Eight Passengers, Leaves 20 With Severe Injuries

The fatal road accident has claimed lives of Eight  people and 20 others injured. 

This road crash has occurred today 1st September 2024, morning at approximately 3:30am, resulting in the loss of 8 lives and injuring 20 others.

 The crash has occurred at Kabaale-Bugonzi along Masaka-Kampala Highway involving motor vehicles UBP 964T Isuzu Bus belonging to Jaguar & UAV 988N Isuzu Elfu.

SP Micheal Kananura the traffice police spokesperson revealed that, the driver of the Jaguar bus while from Kampala to Kigali attempted to overtake an unidentified vehicle by drifting into the opposite lane, colliding with the oncoming Isuzu Elfu.

The bus rolled multiple times, claiming the lives of 8 passengers and injuring 20 others. Prompt response from territorial police ensured victims received medical attention at Masaka Referral Hospital, while the deceased were conveyed to the hospital's mortuary.

"Both vehicles have been towed to Lukaya Police Station for further investigation". Added Kananura

Police have urged all road users to exercise extreme caution and adhere to traffic regulations, especially when overtaking, to prevent such tragic crashes.
