Assailants Kill Security Officer Guarding Pepsi Depot in Kassanda

Police in Kassanda are actively investigating circumstances under which a security guard, Buni Ali, at the Pepsi Depot in Kassanda Town Council, located within Kassanda district, was murdered on August 26, 2023.

According to SP Racheal Kawala, the Public Relations Officer, Wamala Region, Preliminary information suggests that on August 26, 2023, around 06:00 AM, the reporter Hajji Kalema Ziad Katongole, while at his residence sleeping, received information about an incident. He was informed that a security guard at the Pepsi Depot was found in a pool of blood, alongside his colleague, suspected to have been killed by unknown individuals. Hajji verified this information and indeed discovered two security guards from the Pepsi Depot in Kassanda. One was found deceased, and the other was in a coma. Hajji promptly alerted the police for further action.

"The victim has been identified as Innocent Alumayi, and he was rushed to Kassanda Health Centre IV for medical attention. A Homicide team led by the OC CID Kassanda, along with the scene of crime officers (SOCOs) from Kassanda CPS, visited the crime scene. Thorough examination and documentation were carried out at the scene. Relevant statements were recorded to assist in the ongoing investigations," Kawala said.

Several exhibits, including suspected bloodstains, a shirt, a hoe, a spade, a blue head sock (all containing suspected bloodstains), and other material evidence, have been collected. These items are pending submission to forensics for analysis. The body of the deceased has been taken to Kassanda Health Centre IV for a postmortem examination.

Investigations have revealed that both the deceased and the victim were security guards individually assigned to the Pepsi Depot, armed with arrows. The unidentified suspects fatally attacked Buni Ali by hitting him on the head, resulting in his immediate death. His colleague was left in a coma. Furthermore, the suspects stole a motorcycle (registration number UFU 867J Bajaj Boxer) that had been parked for safekeeping.

"Regrettably, the crime scene lacked CCTV cameras. The search for the suspects is ongoing, Kawala noted.
