UBOS Releases Health Survey Results

Uganda Bureau of Statistics (UBOS) an independent institution that is responsible for carrying out statistics and data in Uganda has released the 7th Uganda Demographic Health Survey results for the year 2022 and its key findings.

The launch of the results was graced by the Minister of Finance and Economic Development, Hon Matia Kasaija. In his remarks, the Minister says UBOS has always been fast in delivering the required Statistics. He added that UBOS has consistently disseminated data at a timely manner.

The Minister of Health Dr Jane Ruth Acheng who was the Chief Guest thanked UBOS for developing statistical independence by ensuring that the institution boasts one of the technical capacity to undertake such high level survey with benefiting international standards.

The Executive Director of UBOS, Dr Chris Mukiza says every end of the race marks the beginning of a new one. "We have finished the health survey and the attention is now put on another bigger task which is the forthcoming National Population Census come early 2024," he revealed.
Dr Mukiza in his remark quoted former USA President John F Kennedy who once said " As we express our gratitude, we must never forget the highest appreciation is not to utter words but to live by them,". He added that during the recent General meeting that was held in August, he promised to extend his good gesture and best performing team and individual staff.
"Extend our gratitude to the technical team of demography headed by Dr Vincent Fred Ssenono and his staff," said UBOS boss.

Dr Mukiza also launched the ED's Round Table, a platform that will be used as an exclusive interacting center for excellent performing team. The avenue will provide a platform to recognise the performing of team and individuals and also share  experience, by promoting best practices.

The ED's table will focus on three key points that is the power of focus, the storm makes a good sailor and Don't compromise your professionalism.

The Deputy Executive Director Mr Godfrey Nabongo noted that with the efforts and vision of the ED focused on strengthening the independence if statistical production. He added that the UBOS has set its self apart as the center for benchmarking in the production of Demographic and Health Surveys.

The Director Population and social statistics Ms Hellen Nviiri thanked the ED Dr Mukiza for having confidence and trust in them. "This alone was a great motivation to the team to ensure that work was completed in a record time," she said.

The coordinator of UDHS Mr Stephen Baryahirwa who also heads the department of social surveys and Census said it was a whole team participation and time sacrificing that UBOS managed to produce the 7th UDHS key findings. "It was highly demanded set of indicators that needed to be disseminated.
The launch of UDHS key findings attracted various players from different government ministries, Departments, agencies, the UN family, USAID, the academia and civil society organisations.
