Bang The Table; ULS President Isaac Semakadde Fires Back At Judge Sekana's Order Of Stopping EGM.

The president Uganda Law Society Isaac Ssemakadde expressed disatisfaction over the ruling íssue by judge Sekana where he ordered to the injections restraining the ULS from convening the Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM).

Ssemakadde says that the meeting is merely delayed but will be held as planned.

In the ruling, several injunctions were issued like restraining the society from holding the Extraordinary general meeting, Restoring Turyamusiima Geoffrey as council member of the ULS and restraining the ULS from holding elections for it's representative to the Judicial service commission in the EGM among others.

"A temporary injunction order doth issue restraining the 1 st and 2 nd respondents from implementing a purported Council decision dated 24 th of November 2024 and or convening the Extraordinary General Meeting on 17 th December 2024 until the final disposal of Miscellaneous Cause No. 1243 of 2024. A mandatory injunction order doth issue restoring the 3 rd respondent as Secretary and Council member of the 1 st respondent until the final disposal of Miscellaneous Cause No.1243 of 2024. 

A Mandatory injunction order doth issue restoring Turyamusiima Geofrey as Council member of the 1 st respondent until the final disposal of Miscellaneous Cause 1243 of 2024. Costs of this application be provided for. In the 2 nd application, the applicant equally seeks a similar order but specifically about her removal from the list of nominated candidates for the position of representative to the Judicial Service Commission.

A temporary injunction doth issue restraining the respondents, its agents, servants or representatives from holding elections for its representatives to the Judicial Service Commission at the Extraordinary General Meeting scheduled for the 17 th day of December 2024 or any meeting scheduled thereafter, pending the determination of the substantive suit.

The grounds in support of this application are set out briefly in the chamber summons and the respective affidavits in support of the applicants which briefly states;"The ruling reads in part.

Other Lawyers on the bar like, Christopher Mbaziira, Eron Kiiza Denis Kusaasira have since opposed the ruling and vowed to appeal on the same.
