Commemorating World Teachers'Day :Museveni Urges Arts Teacher To Be Patient With Salary Increament
Uganda has today joined the rest of the world to commemorate world Teacher's day at Lugogo Cricket Oval in Kampala city.
The function has been graces by the President of Uganda Gen Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and the First Lady also the Minister of Education and Sports among, Teacher from various institutions other government officials.
The president urged the Arts teacher to be patient on the pay rise saying that the government is committed improved the welfare of all public servants.
"Our target is to pay all the public servants well and also increase the numbers".said president Museveni.
The President promised to examine the issue of holidays with the teacher .
This year's celebrations run under the theme:; "Valuing Teacher Voices: Towards a New Social Contract for Education".
Several schools have presented their science innovations today at the Cricket Oval in Kampala, as part of the belated International Teachers' Day celebrations.
Twelve Teachers have been awarded with certificates for Exceptonal innovation in their profession. Under "Teachers Making Difference Program".
The education Minister Hon Janet Museveni warned some teachers are absent in class but still pick salaries.
She also wondered as to why well paid teachers in government schools continue to absant thelves compared to their counterpart in private schools who are relatively paid less.
