Concertrate on challenging charges against you; Judge Jane Kajuga tells Minister Nandutu.

The Anti-Corruption Court has declined to halt corruption proceedings against  Karamoja State Minister, Hon Agnes Nandutu. On Monday, High Court Judge, Jane Kajuga said the charge of dealing with suspect property is very clear.

Hon. Nandutu, last week filed an application before the court to have her trial halted, pending a determination of a petition she has filed before the Constitutional Court seeking interpretation over the charges against her which she says contravene Article 28(1) and (12) of the Constitution.

Nandutu said section 21a(1) of the Anti-Corruption Act 2009 in which she was charged with dealing with suspect property is vague, broad and ambiguous.

She asked the Anti Corruption Court to halt her trial pending determination of the Constitutional Court petition she filed.

However, on Monday, Lady Justice Jane Okuo Kajuga said there is nothing ambiguous or vague in the law as alleged by Nandutu. She asked the state to continue with its case which was adjourned to June, 8, 2023.

Prosecution alleges that during the month of June 2022 at the OPM stores in Namanve, Mukono district, Nandutu dealt with government property and irregularly received 2,000 pre-painted iron sheets.

According to the prosecution, Nandutu had reason to believe the iron sheets were acquired as a result of loss of public property an offense under section 10 of the Anti Corruption Act of 2000 as amended
