Museveni Welcomes Nobert Mao in NRM Party
President Yoweri Museveni has welcomed the Democratic Party President General who doubles as the Minister of Justice and Constitutional Affairs, Hon Norbert Mao to the ruling National Resistance Movement NRM Party.
In a letter dated 22/07/2023, the president wrote, "Greetings to all those celebrating with Woda Mao, and I extend my gratitude to you for your contribution to the future of Uganda and Africa. I urge you to share these views with the public present today.
I warmly greet all the people joining in the celebration with Woda Mao. In order to understand the present cooperation between NRM, DP, UPC, and even individuals like Mukyala Joyce Sebugwawo (formerly in FDC), it's essential to delve into the historical context of Uganda and Africa over the last 1000 years."
On Saturday, Hon Mao held his homecoming celebration, which took place a year after his Ministerial appointment at Kaunda Playgrounds in Gulu, where he addressed a large gathering of people.
The event saw the attendance of government officials, including the Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Rt Hon Thomas Tayebwa who represented the speaker, Gen Salim Saleh the National Coordinator for Operation Wealth Creation, Democratic Party DP officials, as well as traditional and religious leaders, both from outside and within the Acholi Subregion.
In the spirit of celebration, President Museveni remarked in his letter, "Our close working relationships with UPC, DP, and others are steps in the right direction. As we strive for social-economic transformation and a modern Uganda and Africa, let all patriots, Pan-Africanists, and democrats unite.
I extend my appreciation to you, Woda Mao, and urge us to continue working together for the betterment of Uganda and Africa."
