US Revokes Speaker Among’s Visa over Anti Homosexuality Law

The United States government has revoked visas of Ugandan legislators after news broke that the president of the republic of Uganda Rtd Gen Yoweri Kaguta Museveni assented to the Anti Homosexuality Act.

Addressing a press conference on Monday, the mover of the Bill who is the Bugiri Member of Parliament, Hon Asuman Basalirwa revealed that the Western governments have actualised their threats.

According to Hon. Asuman Basalirwa, the Speaker has been banned from traveling to the United States of America until further notice after her VISA was canceled following her involvement in the Anti-Homosexuality Bill.
"Visas have been cancelled. But I don't know why they are picking out a few. Cancel all visas of all MPs save for two. Infact cancel visas for all Ugandans," the legislator said.

On Monday morning the Speaker of Parliament notified the country that President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has assented to the Anti-Homosexuality Bill in accordance with Article 91 (3) (a) of the Constitution.  Parliament passed the returned bill on Tuesday, 02 May 2023.

"I thank His Excellency, the president, for his steadfast action in the interest of Uganda. With a lot of humility, I thank my colleagues the Members of Parliament for withstanding all the pressure from bullies and doomsday conspiracy theorists in the interest of our country. By their action, we have lived by our motto: *For God and our Country," Rt. Hon. Among noted.
