Four Guns Stolen from Prison's Armory, One Officer Arrested
Police have in custody a Prison's Officer after 4 guns were stolen from the Prison's armory in Kibuku district.
The Officer has been identified as no 10316 CPL Okea Boniventure.
According to a report filed by Prison Officer Namajja Eve aged 58 Years, a Mugwere by Tribe attached to Kibuku Prisons and a resident of Bukatikoko Village, Bukatikoko Parish, Tirinyi Town Council, Kibuku District, it's alleged that on 15/11/2023 at 7pm unknown people broke into the room of 10316 Cpl Okea Boniventure and stole four smg riffles with a total of 116 rounds of ammunitions and went away with them unseen as the armoury man had gone to Tirinyi Trading Centre for an evening walk. "CPL Okea keeps guns in his room located about 400 metres from prison. He went away without arming the night shift who had reported for work and was nowhere to be seen," Namajja said.
Several calls were made to him by the OC prison ASP Elugant John Michael to arm officers on night shift but refused. The incident was realised by Namajja Eve the reporter who informed OC prison who in turn reported to Tirinyi Police Station.
ASP Ssesaazi Habibu OC Station Tirinyi and a team responded to the scene, no 10316 CPL Okea Boniventure was called on phone who later came but was too drunk. He was arrested and detained at Tirinyi Police Station on the same charges file opened vide sd ref 20/15/11/2023.
