Gold Scammer Denied Bail, Remanded
GOLD SCAMMERS AT ENTEBBE IN'TL AIRPORT FURTHER REMANDED
The Chief Magistrates Court in Entebbe has further remanded 6 suspects who were earlier charged on 11th October 2024 with illegal dealing in minerals.
The suspects were earlier on arrested by the State House Anti Corruption Unit working with the Criminal Investigations Directorate and Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions.
On 30th September 2024, a team was disptached to the Airport, for an operation over the matter were the 6 suspects including; Kananura Daniel, Businessman, Mpomba Richard, Clearing Agent at Entebbe International Airport, Muhwezi Benon, Clearing Agent at Entebbe International Airport, Nkahirwa Pascal, Clearing Agent in Kampala, Mujuzi John Keneddy, a cleaner at the Airport, Bekalaze Ismail, Clearing Agent at the airport, were arrested.
They were found with 11 plastic boxes containing 300 metal bars they claimed were gold and intended to use the same to defraud unsuspecting persons, especially investors and businessmen.
Upon a forensic analysis by the minerals experts from the Directorate of Geological Survey and Mines, the items were found to be other minerals other than gold.
They have been denied bail for the second time and further remanded until 28/10/2024.
