Headteacher Arrested Over PLE Malpractice Involvement
The Territorial Police in Kayunga District have arrested Mrs. Namakula Annet, Headteacher of Lion of Judah Elementary School, on allegations of involvement in Primary Leaving Examination (PLE) malpractice.
This incident occurred on November 6, 2024, at 10:20 am at Lion of Judah Elementary School, located in Kyampisi village, Kayunga Sub-County, Kayunga District.
It is alleged that at around 10:00 am on the same day, the District Internal Security Officer (DISO) of Kayunga received information regarding suspected examination malpractice taking place at Lion of Judah Elementary School. Upon receiving this information, the DISO promptly visited the school premises.
During his visit, he found three teachers engaged in solving mathematics problems, which were suspected to be answers for the 2024 UNEB PLE Mathematics examination.
The three teachers had reportedly prepared answer sheets for both Section A and Section B of the examination.
The DISO retrieved these answer sheets and took them to the headteacher's office for comparison with the UNEB examination papers to verify if the answers matched the questions.
The DISO requested that the three teachers accompany him to the headteacher's office, but they disappeared before arriving. The headteacher, Mrs. Namakula Annet, identified the three teachers as Kyondo Rodgers, Ngobi Samuel, and Orune Julius, all staff members at Lion of Judah Elementary School.
Upon comparison, the retrieved answer sheets were found to correspond exactly with the UNEB Mathematics examination questions, in the correct sequence. The headteacher has been arrested to assist in ongoing investigations, and a search is underway for the three suspected teachers.
SP Hellen Butoto the police spokesperson Ssezibwa Regionconfirmed the arrest noting that UNEB staff assigned to Lion of Judah Elementary School have been summoned to provide statements as part of the inquiry.
