I Was Given Gulu Golf Course Land As An Alternative To The Forrest Land -Hon Betty Ochan

Parliament has praised Ronald Rugumayo, who became East Africa’s finest golfer in the recently concluded Magical Kenya Golf Open being the first Ugandan to achieve this mark.

The deputy speaker of parliament Rt. Hon. Thomas Tayebwa noted that the Government has not been prioritizing Golf yet it has no age limit. He added that golf course grounds have helped to keep a green environment in different cities.

Reacting to the speaker's communication, Hon, Gilbert Oulanya accused his fellow MP hon. Betty Aol Ochan former Leader of Opposition, Internal Minister Hon.Kahinda Otafiire, and some district officials over-grabbing and sharing the Gulu Golf land amongst themselves.

This prompted Hon Betty Ochan to testify how she landed on the golf land deal. She has revealed that the land in question was first given to her Uncle, and the matter was discussed in the then Parliament only to find out that she was given forest land and later given a golf the course as an alternative.

 Hon Ojara Martin Mapenduzi told parliament that those who tookup the golf field land followed right procedures and was discussed by the Gulu district council which now decided to find altertative land for the golf course.

The deputy speaker referred the matter to Gulu City Council to resolve.
