Karamoja Iron Sheets Scandal: Minister Agnes Nandutu Appears in Anti-Corruption Court as Investigation Widen.

The State Minister for Karamoja Affairs Agnes Nandutu , has been taken to the Anti-Corruption Court in Kololo, Kampala after being apprehended yesterday for allegedly committing abuse of office and theft of iron sheets. These sheets were intended to be given as relief items to the troubled Karamoja sub-region.

Nandutu is one of several ministers and MPs who are under scrutiny for their involvement in this scandal, which has put the government in a difficult position. She surrendered herself to the police for interrogation and was taken into custody yesterday.

Two ministers, Mary Gorreti Kitutu, who holds the position of Minister of Karamoja, and Amos Lugolobi, the State Minister for Finance (Planning), have already been indicted at the Anti-Corruption Court on corruption charges and for incurring financial loss to the government.

The government is currently dealing with a scandal involving Karamoja irons sheets, which has caused trouble for around 20 ministers and 35 legislators across the country. The situation is proving difficult for the government to handle, and even high-ranking officials such as the Vice President, Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja, Speaker of Parliament Anita Among, and Finance Minister Matia Kasaija are implicated in the scandal. On Monday, Mr. Fred Enanga the Police spokesperson announced that the police have forwarded several files to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for approval.
